\u3000The role of art museums includes the introduction of diverse artworks through exhibitions and educational activities through art, as well as \"art collection and research activities\" to deepen understanding of artworks by collecting, preserving, and exhibiting artworks that should be preserved for the future. It is no exaggeration to say that the individuality of art museums, of which there are many, is largely characterized by their awareness of and tendency toward their own collections.
The Kitakyushu Municipal Museum of Art also began collecting artworks before the opening of the museum with its own conception, and today, the collection consists of approximately 100 works of art, including paintings, sculptures, drawings, and prints, mainly of modern and contemporary art from Japan and abroad.8,000<\/span>The collection includes the following items.<\/p>\n

\u3000The museum has been introducing the results of its collection and research mainly through permanent collection exhibitions and catalogs,2024<\/span>In 2006, we launched a new website to search our collection. The banner below allows you to search and browse information on approximately 500 works from our collection.
\u3000You can search by artist name, work name, year of creation, material\/technique, or classification, and you can also view enlarged images of works for which the copyright protection period has expired or for works for which permission has been obtained from the copyright holder.<\/p>\n
