3. implementation overview

Due to the new coronavirus infection, the museum tours scheduled for May 20-June 18 and August 31-September 30 were cancelled.

Last year, the number of participants was limited to four per group as a measure to prevent infection. This year, the number of participants was returned to eight per group while continuing to take measures to prevent infection. Each group was accompanied by a guide staff member, who guided the tour based on dialogue to deepen the children's own awareness. The entire tour lasted 1 hour and 20 minutes, and the group viewing took about 50 minutes. Focusing on the museum's collection, the tour included Collection I "Hello Museum," Collection II "Where Animals Are," Special Exhibition "ART for SDGs," and guest room006 "Holography Art: From Kusahara to the Sea" by Seizuko Ishii.

4. changes in implementation methods for this fiscal year
  1. Change the number of people in a group
Although the number of participants per group was set at 4 as an infection control measure, the tour was conducted with 8 participants per group while continuing to take infection control measures.
  2. Private Elementary School Acceptance
We approached four private and national elementary schools other than city elementary schools about participating in the museum tour. Two schools applied to participate, but only one school was able to participate due to the state of emergency declared.
  3. Trial implementation of student tutoring system
A student tutor system was implemented on a trial basis in order to consider accepting volunteers to assist guide staff.

Prefectural Hibiki High School 4 students for a total of 24 days

Place: Lecture Room, Annex Building, Kitakyushu Municipal Museum of Art

5. survey results
  1. Sohyo (General Council of Trade Unions of Japan)
In the school questionnaire Q1 and Q2, all of the 88 schools responded that they were satisfied or somewhat satisfied. Some schools gave high marks to the infection control measures and some evaluated the implementation of the tour in spite of the difficulty of conducting off-campus training.
  2. Museum and guide staff
All 88 schools were also satisfied or somewhat satisfied with the answers to Q3 and Q4. We received advice from special needs schools on how to support their students in the comments section. We would like to deepen the cooperative relationship between schools and museums for better tours.
  3. advance preparation
Only one school was somewhat dissatisfied with each of the pre-conference meeting, bus arrangements, and leaflet. We will try to provide more detailed explanations.
  4. Date & Time
One school was somewhat dissatisfied with the implementation date, and three schools were somewhat dissatisfied with the implementation time. Regarding the date, there were many opinions from schools that participated at the end of the school term in previous years, but no specific opinions were found this year. Regarding the duration of the event, all three schools commented that the viewing time was too short.
