Hours of operation
9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., but admission until 5:00 p.m.

Mondays, year-end and New Year holidays; however, if Monday is a national holiday or substitute holiday, the museum will be closed the following day.

Collection Exhibition (Honkan)

Residents of Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka City, Kumamoto City, Kagoshima City, and Shimonoseki City who are 65 years old or older: 90 yen (must present a certificate issued by a public institution, etc.)
*High school and college students must present their student ID.
The following persons may visit the exhibition free of charge. Please present the following certificates at the entrance of the exhibition rooms.
- Those with physical disability certificate (Level 1-4)Free for you and one accompanying person
- Those with physical disability certificate (Level 5-6)Free of charge for the person himself/herself only
- Those who bring their Rehabilitation Certificate Free for you and one accompanying person
- Those with a Mental Health and Welfare Handbook Free for you and one accompanying person
- Elementary and junior high school students in Kitakyushu City who bring their TANKEN PASSPORT free
- Members of Kitakyushu Municipal Museum of Art and Shimonoseki City Museum of Art free

Requests at the time of admission
In order to ensure the appreciation and protection of the artworks, the museum asks that you do the following
- Do not touch the artwork or display cases.
In addition to damaging the work, there is a risk that grease or dirt from hands may adhere to the work and stain or corrode it after several years. Also, please do not touch the frames, walls, displays, or display stands, as the works may be damaged by vibration. - Only pencils may be used in the exhibition rooms.
Please do not allow ink from sign pens, ballpoint pens, etc. to adhere to the work, as it cannot be completely removed. - No umbrellas or large baggage allowed
Please use the umbrella stand at the entrance of the museum for umbrellas and coin-returnable lockers for large baggage. - Fresh flowers and other plants are not allowed in the main building.
- Eating and drinking are prohibited in the museum.
Please refrain from bringing in food and drinks (candy, gum, bottled drinks) except in specific areas such as cafes and restaurants. - Use of Smartphones and Cell Phones
Please set your phone to silent mode and refrain from talking in the exhibition rooms.
Photography (including video)
Photography in the exhibition rooms is restricted because the works are protected by the Copyright Law, a law that protects the rights of the creators. Photography may be allowed in some areas depending on the collection or special exhibition, so please ask the staff.
