The Kitakyushu Calligraphy Federation was formed at the same time as the birth of Kitakyushu City by integrating calligraphy organizations that had been active in the five merged cities, and celebrated its 60th anniversary this year.
Since joining the Kitakyushu Cultural Federation, the school has enthusiastically organized the Kitakyushu Art Festival, the Student Calligraphy Competition, and the Representative Artists Exhibition.
The "One Million Calligraphy" exhibition commemorating the 30th anniversary of the city's incorporation, the "One Million Calligraphy: Dreams for the Future" exhibition commemorating the 50th anniversary, and the "Japan-China-Korea Intercultural Calligraphy Exchange Exhibition" have been held to date, and we continue to work to promote and develop calligraphy culture not only for calligraphers in our city, but for the general public as well.
This year, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of our Calligraphy Federation as well as the 60th anniversary of the City of Kitakyushu, we will hold a commemorative members' exhibition and a student calligraphy exhibition. About Kitakyushu Calligraphy Federation
The Kitakyushu City Calligraphy Federation was established in February 1963, when the former five cities of Kokura, Yawata, Moji, Tobata, and Wakamatsu merged to form the government-designated city of Kitakyushu.
At that time, it was an era of heavy-handedness, and Kitakyushu was a cultural desert, an ungrateful term. It was under these circumstances that we organized a group of calligraphers who lived or worked in Kitakyushu City, with the aim of contributing to the rise and development of culture in the Kitakyushu area.
The Kitakyushu International Calligraphy Exchange Association (Kitakyushu-shi) is a non-profit organization that provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and information between members of the Kitakyushu International Calligraphy Association (Kitakyushu-shi). As for international exchange, Kitakyushu actively promotes exchange with its sister and friendship cities, Dalian, China and Incheon, South Korea, and regularly holds exchange calligraphy exhibitions on a rotating basis.
