Yuta Nakajima Run away with someone, Guchokipa!
NAKAJIMA Yuta: Breaking Free-Rock, Scissors, Paper!
main building
19th July 2025(Saturday)-31th August(Sunday)

Yuta Nakajima is a contemporary artist who uses workshops as a method of expression. Nakajima's workshops are flexible in that the content changes flexibly according to the dialogue with the participants, rather than the completion of a predetermined work. At first glance, it may seem like free play, but it is an activity in which participants think about what they want to do and what is necessary, set rules, and work together to create a "place" for themselves.
Nakajima's curious phrase, "Run away with someone, Goochokipaa," expresses his character as an artist. Nakajima's workshops, in which he always creates with others and shares ideas with them, are an escape from the values of museums, which tend to give priority to the work and the artist's ideas. In Nakashima's workshops, everyone is on an equal footing, like the "Goochokipa," a three-cornered puzzle, and the artist does not make all the decisions on his or her own.
This exhibition will feature Nakajima's participatory artworks, which incorporate elements of his workshops, and will be transformed during the exhibition period through the involvement of visitors themselves. Nakajima has been thinking about social themes such as "region," "division," "rules," "travel," "publicness," and "education," and his workshops will provide visitors with an opportunity to rethink the museum as a place and our society.
